Standing in the shower yesterday I was thinking about a client of mine and the conversation that took place surrounding enlightenment. And it occurred to me that enlightenment is thought of as a destination instead of a journey. Meaning, is it that the awareness of enlightenment happens in the journey of remaining in the present moment diligently? The powerful, compassionate, loving and balanced actions, thoughts and wisdom of an enlightened being take place perhaps because they are so still and so aware of the present moment that there isn’t anything else there to muddle or confuse that being. If enlightenment is a destination then perhaps the destination is a keen awareness of the present moment. How many of us can say that we live in the present moment all the time? I am thriving to do so and have my human experience along the way. Are those too mutually exclusive?? Can we fully experience our humanity and live completely in the present moment?
